As someone deeply passionate about women’s health and the sacred journey of motherhood, I couldn’t ignore this controversial topic once I began to look more closely. Like many others, I once trusted every recommendation, every protocol, every appointment. I followed them by the book. Until the day I began to truly study the science behind prenatal ultrasounds—and realized how little we actually know.
This isn’t about blame. It’s about the questions we’re discouraged from asking. Questions that expecting parents—especially mothers—deserve to explore without shame or dismissal.
Pregnancy is a miracle. Yet in today’s medicalized model, it is often treated like a pathology. Among the most normalized tools in this approach is the ultrasound—presented as a moment of joy, a bonding experience, a must-have.
But what if we’re not being told the whole story?
This 5-part series dives into the lesser-known risks and overlooked consequences of prenatal ultrasound—not from a place of fear, but from a place of informed, compassionate care. This is not an anti-technology stance. It is a call for balance, discernment and transparency.
Having walked this journey both as a therapist and as a parent, I now view pregnancy through a different lens—one that values intuition as much as information. We owe it to ourselves, to our children and to future generations to pause and ask: what are the long-term effects of what we now consider “routine”?
This series is written for the mother who has a quiet hesitation but no place to voice it. For the partner who wants to protect, but doesn’t know how. For the care provider who senses something is off, but is afraid to say it out loud. And above all, for the babies whose first home should be quiet, sacred and undisturbed—not pierced by waves of mechanical vibration in the name of reassurance.
May this series offer perspective, courage and clarity. May it help you ask deeper questions and make more conscious decisions.
